When contacting wholesalers to make purchases for a retail business, what information does the wholesaler have a right to request? I am currently in touch with one distributor and they are asking what other brands will be sold and details of where the shopfront will be etc. etc. I am new to this and unsure of why this information is relevant and what information I must provide. I will be paying in advance for any merchandise so there would be no potential loss for the supplier.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!|||Some brands want to make sure that their merchandise
Will sell in a good place or store and others don't supply
If their product is sold nearby
They can also request Tax ID
And if you apply for credit some other things
But that's not your case|||the supplier has the RIGHT to ask you anything he wants, just as you have the RIGHT to with hold any information. Conversely, they also have the RIGHT to with hold the merchandise. As an off the wall example, Louis Vuitton would never allow their merchandise to be sold in a discount store. True Religion (as another example) doesn't mind if you are selling their products along side Diseal, but they surely don't want you selling Lee store.

The only thing these companies really have is their brand, so the put a lot of effort into protecting it!
